Second Visit-Panti Wierdha Old Folks' Home

This visit was definitely one to remember for a long time... as we made the appointment to visit Panti Wierdha, I remember how Ekta and I were smiling, as we have always wanted to go to an old folks' home and haven't had the chance to, as we lacked the manpower. Now, thanks to our loyal members, we made it possible! On one fine Saturday, we made our way through this old folks' home, in Jelambar. As we arrived, we set up in one of the halls and waited for the seniors to walk in. When they did, they were kind, cheerful and very friendly! Some of them were so elated to see us that they refused to sit down and chose to stand with us instead. We started off by introducing ourselves. I introduced some of my members in a memorable way so the seniorsa can remember their names as we go on with the program. For example, I introduced Ekta Melwani as "ini yang hidungnya sangat mancung" and Sonam Samtani as "ini yang bangun tidurnya susaaaaaaaaaaaaah sekali", Bhavna Hiranandani as "ini yang mau menikah tahun depan, tolong minta doa restu ya" and Dimple Hiranandani as "Dimple artinya lesung pipit loo" and basically similarly for everyone else :):) We then moved on to introducing our group-Sincere Hearts and what is does. Our very talented entertainers-Diksha and Bhavna or more familiarly nicknamed Sha and Viti to take over with a very cute drama skit, with a moral of "before changing the surroundings, change yourself first". We then requested some of the seniors to share stories about their youth and some of them even volunteered to sing for us! The day was concluded by a very special surprise from us- a song to sing for the seniors-Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It was very cute to see some of them who knew the lyrics more than us! We distributed gift bags and took a tour around the premises. It was disheartening to see the condition of the people who live there, some were unhealthy, some were extremely thin, some were sick and some had to take full bedrest. As we said our farewell, we all went back home with a sense of appreciation. We were always cared for at home, we had everything we could ever wish for. These people have family who abandoned them. A lesson for all of us, do not ever abandon our parents, care for them and the karma we will get will come to us. Thank you to our generous donators and we look forward to more hands in Sincere Hearts !
